Happy new year!!!!

Every new year always feels like a fresh start. We can look back at all the good and the bad of all the years past and move on to the new year. We’re able to start with a clean canvas and do whatever we want.

Boy.. Do I wish I had a fresh start! A new beginning. I’ve wrote down all the troubles of 2011 and placed them in my new planner – vowing never to go thru those again. 2011 started off in a High and ended up in a low. Those experiences have taught our family valuable lessons and made us a more mature, tightly knitted bunch.

Cheers to the new year. 2012 – we’re ready!

Hello! [Again] :) December 30, 2011

After a year and 3 months, I think I’m gonna bring this baby back to life!! It’s amazing how much I was organized and motivated in 2010.. I could have used the extra kick in 2011! I lost my way [sorta] and I feel like my home is in chaos again! I know by blogging, documenting and telling my stories, I can always look back at what I’ve learned along the way 🙂

2011 is coming to an end – and boy was this year a rollercoaster!

We started off this year with a huge mess.. Finance wise. [darn sneaky mortgage adjustable interest rate!] It took a lot of time away from my joy of blogging – dealing with mortgage companies is no joke! Now that everything’s settled & back on track, I can devote my time here again.
I’ve read and re-read Dave Ramsey’s books and I know things are gonna be on cruise control now I have a plan.

As far as everything else, we had plenty of family parties, a wedding, a tragic & sudden loss in our family, and were finally blessed with a baby!

With all these changes, I’m feeling the pinch of being a disorganized rut & need to get back in old habits. An organized me is what I need. So here’s to 2012!!!

I haven’t made a goal list yet, but here a few ideas floating in my mind.

:: share a great book about being organized during pregnancy.
:: find the almost perfect financial organizing system
:: continue with my goal of minimalism
:: create a weekly routine for home
:: reorganize our home & decorate!
:: stick to a calendar & ONE notebook!

I totally failed the 28 day challenge @ orgjunkie… Took a big bite, but that doesn’t mean I won’t swallow!! Time to chew chew chew.

Got home a little bit early today and feel a bit motivated to get back on track. Now that financial issues are (sorta) outta the way, I can work on our on going project : the office.

Here’s my before work and praying for a happy ending!!!
I need to find important papers :p

I took a day off from project : pantry and did a little blog browsing.

After reading new blogs, I feel so embarrased that my whole house is such a messy wreck.. but I also feel inspired now. I’d like to blog about my pretty clean and organized home too! Someday =) Baby Steps Baby!

Thanks again to all the blogs I’ve read. Know that you all are such good inspirations.

new year : new life

i’m usually opposed to setting new years resolutions. i set them, and they never happen – and that’s why i gave up. i’ll try to start this year on a positive note and hope that blogging my progress would help.

but before i go on with what i’ll ‘resolve’ i want to thank my blessings in 2009.

  • travelling : this is something i really wanted to do more and 2009 really did shine. feb:vegas april:nyc july:chicago sept:orlando  that’s more traveling in a year than i have in half my life!
  • sports & fitness : i’ve always just been really laid back. this year was different. snowboarded 3x. although i still can’t stand up on my board for more than 3 seconds, i give much props to my daughter who can join competitions on her first ride. joined ufcgym. i’ve never joined a gym before, but always wanted to. losing weight and being more physically fit has always been my goal, so the new gym’s really helping out. i tried zumba and yoga classes and i’m really liking it. not to mention, i lost ~10lbs since.
  • happiness : 2009 was very good to me. my husband and i finally tied the knot (after a last minute change in plans) and i met a few really good friends – good enough that i stopped mingling with folks that took me nowhere. my daughter’s now in the 1st grade and she’s doing very very well in school.
  • blogging : i know i haven’t posted much, but i’ve been more actively bloggin that ’08. i moved from blogger to wordpress since i found it easier to add/edit posts away from home.

what i hope for 2010

  • continue my journey to organization : i haven’t seen much improvement since i started this blog, but i remain hopeful. someday, i’ll be back to being super organized – just how when we first moved in.
  • get our finances back on track : i think that this year is about redemption. cut back spending. work on debt. increase savings.
  • capture the moment : i’m a proud owner of my canon t1i. i’m still a newbie – but i’m likin my shots. i want to take more photos. and i want to be able to show them off. i’ll need to do more researching and t&e.
  • freeze time : alright, i know this is ridiculous, but my daughter is growing so damn fast. i want to do more with her and create more memories. . if i can freeze time : i will. but i can’t. hopefully, with organizing, i’ll create more time to spend with her.

there’s so much more i want to do this year, but those are my big ones.

twentyTEN, please bless me again!!

Entertainment’s been eating my weekends January 19, 2009

Filed under: Randomness — mikailani @ 8:47 am

I’ve always use my weekends to catch up on cleaning and organizing since I’m always tired by time I beat the daily commute.

These past 6 weekends, all we’ve been doing is either heading to friends/family parties or entertain here at home. Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with family. . but I knew it would catch up somehow.

Thanks to the playoffs, my fiance pitched in with laundry folding and got at least 4 batches of clothes done. Since I was expecting cousins over, I was able to tidy up downstairs too. It was a mess!

Now that it’s somewhat clean, I can start the following projects:

-Make a home for everything (easier said than done)
-Create a mail Center

-make a weekly menu plan via Menu Planning Monday
-Organize and sort Pantry

**Office/Makeup Room**
-Put away all xmas boxes
-Give away clothes

List seems bearable – but I gotta plan wedding things too. Yikes!
